Haircuts & Shiners

I took the boys to Super Clips today to get their hair cut. I will NOT be taking them back there again, but the cuts sure are cute! Sullivan had a fairly-unfriendly woman cut his hair; she didn't talk directly to him until halfway through, but she did warm up as time went on. Keats got a male hairdresser who had a macho attitude. He was very annoyed that Keats doesn't like the buzzers; he apparently thought no one had ever considered showing Keaton the buzzer, running it on his arm, and then sorta forcing him to hold still for it. Grrrr. He didn't talk to Keats accept to say "pay attention". So....no more of that kind of place. That kind of person does more to keep Keats from trying the buzzer than it does to help him overcome his fear. FYI: Keats doesn't like electric toothbrushes, things that buzz, things that are too loud for a very small body. With most things he'll overcome the fear after watching it work for a while, but not the buzzers or electric toothbrushes. Just a funny thing about him.

Yesterday, Keats had a very, very good day and a very, very bad day. He was sent to time out a LOT but he was also very helpful while I watched Baby Kenna (almost two) and Lil Alex (four months). Mostly it was a stressful day...but I don't want to make it sound like he's a terror. He's just mouthy & not afraid, in the least, to express himself. ;o) At one point, he was in his room serving a five-minute time-out sentence. Sullivan would go up to his door, knock, and yell "you okay, Keats?" and Keaton would open the door, yell at Sully to stop knocking, and then slam the door really crazy hard. After the third or fourth time, I went to tell him to stop (Sully's broken fingertip from the dresser drawer actually still hurts him...I can only imagine how many fingers might break in a slammed door!) so I went over & opened Keaton's bedroom door. Unfortunately, Keats was between the door and the wall, and for some reason must have been bent down or forward; the door knob got him right in the eye. Right eye. The shiner isn't very noticeable except under certain lighting, but you can totally see a little curved boo-boo under his right eye and going up to his nose. Mom of the Year here. Not. On Saturday, Keats walked into the granite counter, on a corner or jagged spot or something...that's where he earned the scab on his chin.
